Beware of Bad Nursing Homes
"The Last Place There Should Be Trouble"
One of the toughest decisions you will ever have to make is sending a
loved one to a nursing home. Sometimes its the only decision left.
A loved one may need twenty four hour support and care. They may need
someone to do the little everyday tasks that we take for granted. You
may feel like youre abandoning them but no matter how much you want
to, you cant be there twenty four hours to watch over them and do
all the things necessary to support them in their time of continual need.
Joe from just south of Vermont had to make this type of decision with
his wife who was diagnosed with Alzheimers and needed all day supervision
and care. When trying to find the right nursing home for his wife, the
one question Joe asked each manager of the home is if they did background
checks on their employees. Most did but a few he came across did not.
Joe found just the right place to put his wife. It was a beautiful complex
with a vast array of flowers surrounding the building. His wifes
room had a window that overlooked the backyard that had two giant oak
trees. She loved watching the birds and the backyard was full of life.
A couple of weeks later Joe saw one of the other nursing homes that he
visited on his search on the news. A couple of the employees had been
arrested and charged with taking money from the home. They had also been
treating the people living there badly calling them names when no one
was around and being rough with many. They were caught after questions
circulated about the various bruises and cuts showing up on the people
living there.
Needless to say, the home suffered financially for a while because of
the bad publicity. They changed their policy and from then on did background
checks on all current and future employees.
The best way they could have avoided this was to do the background checks
first before something bad happened. All it takes is a few clicks and
a couple minutes of your time. Click here and save yourself the possible
embarrassment of one bad employee giving your company a bruised reputation.
