Mail order brides need protection

Foreign women who come to the US to marry American men they barely know, don’t know if they might end up with an abusive husband so they should get better protection. While most end up in happy marriages, some do end up becoming victims of domestic violence.

California Legislators are proposing a bill bill, AB634 to require the mail order bride brokers to register with the state and run manditory criminal background checks and help brides seek domestic violence help.

In California, during the past decade, only a few domestic violence cases have been officially documented, most go unreported. In Sunnyvale, CA when police investigated a Ukrainian woman’s husband for domestic violence, he pulled a gun on the cops and was shot dead.
